Our Mission

At Northbrook Covenant, our mission is to glorify GodFather, Son, and Holy Spiritby becoming mature disciples of Jesus Christ and inviting others to join us.

Our hope is to carry out our mission by knowing God deeply and walking in the fullness of his abundant life, by ministering to one another within our community, and by making God's love known to the world around us.

What We Believe

Northbrook Covenant is part of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC), a rapidly growing multi-ethnic denomination. Our formal confession states simply that, "the Holy Scripture, the Old and New Testament, is the word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct."

Along with other ECC churches, Northbrook Covenant seeks to be a community deeply committed to Jesus Christ and passionately engaged in Christ's mission in the world. Our values and principles are guided by the following six affirmations:

  •      We affirm the centrality of the word of God.
  •      We affirm the necessity of the new birth.
  •      We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the church.
  •      We affirm the church as a fellowship of believers.
  •      We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit
  •      We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ.

Our story

Planted in 1963, Northbrook Covenant Church was formally organized and accepted into the Evangelical Covenant Church the following year with the hope of being a faithful gospel witness to Northbrook with service to the community at heart.

Today we seek to continue living out that vision in Northbrook and beyond as we help each other grow in following Jesus and seek to serve our neighbors wherever God has placed us.
